Ruth McConnell
Instructor, New Student &    Wedding Dance Specialist:

ruth@blueballroom.net

Recommendations from Ruth's Students:

Ruth, our dancing guru ~ Thank you so much for the fantastic dancing lessons! We were able to "WOW" our guests all while looking poised and professional. Your planning and interest in our dance was so appreciated, we would definately be up for the hardest of hustles in your care. Thanks Again! Jenn & Adam Blackford

Ruth, originally from the Philadelphia area, moved to Delaware in 2004 to pursue academic studies at the University of Delaware.  This is where she discovered ballroom dance and became part of the college's performance team where she competed in collegiate DanceSport for two years.
Described as having a “Renaissance Soul”, Ruth pursues many passions related to the arts and athleticism. What better way to combine the two than ballroom dancing? It's aesthetically pleasing, musically descriptive, and demanding on the body -- both aerobically and anaerobically.  This form of dance, like no other, shares the grace and balance from ballet, rhythm and motion from jazz, and her own personal style from arabic bellydance.  For Ruth, the enjoyment of ballroom dancing is experienced equally while teaching a private lesson or participating in a grander social event. There is little more satisfying to this teacher than a student who is simply hungry for more.... more steps, more styles, more practice!

Coach in Residence:
Mazen Hamza

Mazen is currently 4nd place in the United States American Smooth Open Professional category. He has been a finalist for years in Open Professional Competition and Pro/Am as well.

In 2007, Mazen and his previous partner took first place in the Ohio Star Ball Showdance Championships. Mazen continues to refine his technique, coach and choreograph many competitive students and professionals.

In 2011, he became the Vice-Champion of the Professional Smooth Division, winning that title at the US Dance Championships.

Coach in Residence:
Izabella Jundzill

The first dance steps Izabella took were at the age of 6 in her home country of Poland.  Dancing became not only her biggest passion, but also a lifestyle. Since early childhood she has been coached by some of the top dance teachers in the world.

During her dancing career Izabella won many prestigious competitions in the following styles of dance: International Latin, International Standard, American Smooth and Showdance.

In 2004 Izabella moved to US and began competing in profesisonal International Latin with her partner Alex, whom she met at a local dance studio in Columbus, OH. Together they won numerous Showdance competitions as well as participated as Open Latin finalists in many competitions in the US.

Izabella and Alex demonstrated for Jerry Springer and Kym Johnson, from "Dancing With The Stars", in their instructional dance video.

Together with Alex they were the coaches for the Ohio State Univ.Ballroom Dance Team in 2008.

In 2009 Izabella began her partnership with Mazen Hamza in the American Smooth style of dance. In a short period of time they have been dancing together they already won numerous competitons around the country.

Mazen and Izabella are brining new dimension to the American Smooth, very contrasting and innovative from what has been done so far in this style of dance. Basing their styling on deep understanding of body mechanics their dancing leaves no room for ordinary interpretation of any dance.

In 2010 Izabella began working with the Ballroom Dance Team at the University of Delaware as their main coach.

In 2011, she became the Vice-Champion of the Professional Smooth Division, winning that title at the US Dance Championships.
